Drawing from its movement of 8 overnight camps, 3 day camps and year-round programs, Ramah will bring the magic of a Jewish summer camp experience to the Limmud NY community and create an engaging camp program at Limmud NY 2014.
Camp LimmudNY: Powered by Camp Ramah will be lead by dynamic and experienced educators who will create a meaningful, interactive, and fun experience for all camp-age children at Limmud NY. Camp Limmud NY: Powered by Camp Ramah will offer a fun and safe environment for children ages 3 years to 5th grade and a middle school experience for grades 6-8.
The camp program will include exciting age-appropriate activities such as storytelling, music, art, sports, drama, Hebrew, scavenger hunts, Israeli dancing and more! Children will also be able to choose their own activities, form new friendships and participate in the greater Limmud NY conference.
Campers are divided into groups by grade-level and will have the opportunity to help craft their individual experiences by choosing programs and activities. Each group will be facilitated by madrichim (counselors) who will plan and facilitate many activities. The madrichim will also provide supervised free time during camp hours and select special evening activities. Madrichim are selected for their prior education experience, special skills, openness and diverse Jewish backgrounds. Madrichim are trained and supervised by the Family Team Co-chairs & Camp Ramah.
Limmud NY wishes to accommodate as diverse a group of children as possible at the conference. If your child has special medical or developmental needs, please contact us by emailing email@example.com before you register so we can discuss how best to accommodate your child(ren).
Limmud Katan (babysitting) will be available for children under 3 years of age. The Limmud Katan babysitters are hired professionals under the supervision of the Camp & Family Team. Limmud Katan is offered at times corresponding to daytime sessions. Parents will be asked to fill out a Limmud Katan registration form and to periodically check in on their children.
Please Note: Limmud Katan is not offered all day. Specific times will be listed in the program book available at the conference. There may be an additional cost for babysitting that will be finalized in the month before the conference.
Shmira is an opportunity for parents to attend evening programming while having their sleeping children supervised (the Hebrew term “shmira” means “keeping watch”). Beginning this year, madrichim will help with many of the evening shmira shifts but we ask that parents who are interested in having their children supervised volunteer a shift or two at another time in the Limmud spirit of volunteerism. Families interested in utilizing shmira will be asked to meet at a specific time at the conference to finalize details and share information.
